Happy Thanksgiving
I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving holiday. I’m looking forward to time with my family, good food and watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving with kids. Nothing better than some Charlie Brown on a holiday.

The blogosphere is abuzz with news of the latest global warming scandal. A latter day “Daniel Ellsberg” has released the climate equivalent of the Pentagon Papers onto the web.
In 1971 former Defense Department employee Daniel Ellsberg turned over a large collection of Pentagon Vietnam War related documents to the New York Times. Recently an unknown whistler blower released 61 megabytes of documents along with emails involving communications between Professor Phil Jones, Director of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, and various other scientists who support the claim that humans can raise air temperatures by increasing the amount of the magical atmospheric gas carbon dioxide (CO2). I am writing because I’ve heard from different people how you are looking for me. Wanting to know who I am. I’m flattered that you seem to think I’m important enough to do so.. Is it to try to threaten me into silence? To convince me that I do not have the right to my opinion? To do to me what you’ve done to others in the community when you did not like what they had to say? I would think that using city employees to do personal bidding would not only be an abuse of job position but would also actually be illegal. Demanding that they do their searches for me (some reason you can’t do it yourself?) on time that is paid for by the city for them to do work for the city instead of them doing thier job…that is wrong. What are you going to do when one of those employees gets tired of it and has a tape recorder handy? People can only put up with it for so long. I’ve had plenty of experiance with stalkers. You are really no different. You want to know who I am? I am a citizen who is concerned about the welfare of this city that I grew up in. Concerned for the people who live here. Concerned for what is to come. It is possible to for a town for obtain growth with out the threats, intimidation, etc. Especially when now it seems you are starting to run off people who had the good of the city in mind. How many are we going to lose like that? You cannot fit an entire city under your thumb.
Friday my granddaughter and I came home, and she put her little dog on a leash for his walk. They stepped off the porch to go around the house. Our neighbor opened their back door and let a huge pit bull out. There was nothing we could do to save her precious puppy. The attack was vicious and unstoppable. My granddaughter wasn’t injured physically, but she may never get over what she experienced that day. She is in shock. She is only six, and has lost so much. Her mother died 2 years ago. Her sister lives with her father. Her dog was her best friend. She knows for sure now that the world is a dangerous place.
I feel like a failure because I should have made the world safe for her. I am furious with myself and the neighbors. Continue reading
In the year 2000, Commissioners of the Land Office (CLO) determined the city’s easement for most of the 360 acres of school land around the shoreline of Shawnee Lake #1 reverted back to the state because 28 acres had been leased as cabin sites instead of being used for the reservoir. The CLO agreed to lease the land to the city in a series of 3-year agreements and a News-Star article at that time quoted the CLO representative as saying “The Land Office prefers a master lease with the city so that Shawnee city government will retain control of lake usage …”
Now after 10 years, the CLO is proposing to change the terms of that lease by adding “commercial sites” to its intended use, requiring the city to lease additional lots, and stipulating that the city agree to an as-yet undeveloped plat … Continue reading
