Adults are insane. It seems like I have always known that. And they kept proving it throughout my childhood.
Since I was very small, I knew that doing bad things made me feel bad. I didn’t like to make mistakes or get in trouble. Even if I didn’t get caught I felt guilty. Saying bad words was definitely a mistake that would get me in trouble. But why? To me, it was simple. Mom said I couldn’t say certain words that my grandfather used profusely, so it was wrong. He was having a new house built, so the frequency of use may have been more than normal. If I said them, I should feel guilty. So I got underneath my bed and said sh!t 3 times. I didn’t feel bad, and nothing bad happened. I decided to dismiss the guilt and refrain from accessing my expanded vocabulary in Mom’s earshot. Continue reading

Just want to take a minute and talk about the road conditions in rural SW Pott County after the recent snowstorm. I went out on Christmas Day to find that Cleveland county had graded up to the county line on Trousdale rd, while Pott County had done nothing. Sat night went to Shawnee, and while taking the “backroads” to Hwy 102, we passed the County Commisioners house for our area. Much to my surprise, (well, not really), we noticed that the road from Hwy 102 that passes by said commisioners house had been graded, WTH??? And recently I have seen Trousdale road graded, while the road that I live on, which runs into Trousdale, has not been touched. This just baffles me, talk about preferential treatment

I wish you a peaceful, uneventful Christmas.
I’m not sure “Merry Christmas” is appropriate because I know from experience it’s difficult to feel merry when you are thousands of miles from home and there are people outside the perimeter who would like to kill you. It’s more difficult for many of you than it was for me because many of you are away from your spouses and children as well as being away from your parents and siblings.
I spent Christmas 1969 at Landing Zone English just north of Bong Son, South Vietnam. I hope your Christmas will be comparable to mine. Continue reading

I am so sick of hearing about global warming. The ones talking about it know little about it and go to internet sites which follow their political bent. One blogger asked if our civilization is in danger. I don’t know. I do know it won’t matter if our atmosphere is destroyed and we go up in flames. If we err it should be on the side of caution. Sometimes, when I’m feeling mean, I think the world in general, climate, society, will be better when the current old codgers can’t vote anymore. Our atmosphere is not deep. It is only a short distance above the tallest mountain in the Sierras. We can’t expect it will take everything we want to throw at it. I’m not going into this too deeply because I am not a scientist and am quite aware of my limited knowledge, unlike some .others. One man who always has letters to the editor is obsessing on this so much it is unbelievable. I’m sure he is a real nice person but I would like to see him happier.
This is out of context but that is just me. An out of context kind of person. I, and some others have tried to mention John Hancock in the comments in the News star and the last part of his name is exed out. Continue reading

With despair, I saw The Bachelor is coming on again this year. Sometimes, like in this past election I am so happy at the advancement women have made in this male dominated world. Then I see a show like the Batchelor. These young ladies are beautiful, some even have some brains. Why are they doing this? It seems they are begging” Please take me. Oh. please choose me. I’ll suck up to you and be your underling. I have no worth unless you choose me.” This seems sad. Some even shed tears when not chosen. I can’t help but wonder if sex is involved. If it is , the situation is like televised prostitution.
You guys know I’m not a prude. I’m a virulent liberal, in fact. I just think our young women are better than this and can involve themselves in more worthy causes.
Then there is the subject of stilletto heels. It hurts me to look at them. If I was a guy I would be very wary of a lady with two such handy weapons. Continue reading
