And here we go again Tecumseh…..

Felistorm

I had a blog I was going to do awhile back about the water here in Tecumseh …yes again and I had put it off because there has been so much going on in my life.  I have a young baby and 3 teens who at the moment are very demanding of my attentions, a mom who is in ill health, myself being in somewhat ill health but hopefully the changes I’ve made as far as diet and exercise will help in changing that alot, a nasty computer virus that is a pain in the butt…(if you ever get antivirus soft demo thankfully it seems McAfee and all are now catching it and Malwarebytes and all are good for it too oh the horror stories I have) anyways just alot going on that isn’t  even half of it. I read the countywide all the time and am very grateful for the local paper. The story on the front page caught my attention. Just as I had began to think that hey things have been quiet for awhile….maybe they have things under control welllllll….Not so much I guess.  I will tell you about the water thing first. just talkin’

Aquarius

After I  wrote the blog about discrimination against blacks and remarked about how happy I am this situation is improving , a couple of things happened.

One of my husband’s friends came over and he and I got to discussing an item that was currently a headline. My husband had a cold so he went to lie down and we two kept at it. Longer than we should have, I guess. I guess he felt really defeated in our talk and had to lash out.  He said, ” What do you think about your nigger president now? ” Continue reading

Fitting Tribute to a Fallen Olympian

reasonmclucus

The opening ceremony for the Vancouver Olympics appeared to be flawless until the very end when the lighting of the cauldron didn’t go as planned. Initially I agreed with the commentators that the ending was the only glitch in an otherwise perfect opening.

After thinking about it for a few days I realized that the commentators were wrong. The deviation from the original plan made the opening ceremony perfect.

The ceremony began with four large pillar like “robots” coming up from the floor and beckoning representatives of the various Canadian peoples and others to the Olympics. At the end these same structures were to come up and form part of the cauldron which would contain the Olympic flame during the Vancouver Olympics. Continue reading

A Book and a Thought

Aquarius

The book is TRIAL by James Patterson. some of you , I’m sure have read his books or seen movies made from his books. Many of his books feature Alex Cross, a detective who happens to be black .This story features one of his ancestors who lived during the times of all the lynchings in Mississippi.

I know the clan had a resurgence during this time and we had lynchings right here in Oklahoma. You can look it up on the net if you want to do so. One site I was on showed a black woman hanging with onlookers, dressed in their Sunday best . watching and doing nothing. Continue reading

Judge Denies Scott Roeder Trial Rights

reasonmclucus

It is unfortunate that Sedgwick County District Judge Warren Wilbert decided to deny Scott Roeder his right to a trial by a jury that was independent of government control.

Roeder had admitted to the crime of Voluntary Manslaughter [the "honest but unreasonable belief" that the use of force was necessary in defense of another] in the killing of Dr. George Tiller, but the prosecution decided it wanted him convicted instead of the much broader crime of 1st Degree Murder.

Instead of giving the jury the choice between the two different crimes, Judge Wilbert sided with the prosecution and told the jury that it could only find Roeder guilty of 1st degree murder or not guilty of any crime. Continue reading
