Games, Books and TV
Last night I had a new experience. I took the test to be a Jeopardy! contestant. This test is 50 questions. You have 15 secs to dig the answer out of your brain and type it in. I did all this. Now I have no idea how many questions I answered or how many I got right. It was too fast to keep up with my answers. If I ever do this again I will have my husband with me and shout it out when I get one right. After the test is over, they tell you that you won’t be informed about results and will never know how you did until you are contacted to come to some distant city to take a test in person and this could be a year away. Somehow, I’m not optimistic.
Most of you know that I am not a young person. Most of the time I consider this an asset, I have many years worth of trivia in my brain. Not because I am a brain but because I read all the time , keep up wih current events and work the hard crossword puzzles. I have also lived through a lot of history. I watch Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune every day. As I said, I have a ton of trivia in my head. The problem is, it once was set in a soft substance, like jello and easy to yank out of there. Now the jello has got a consistency something like cement and I practically have to get out a pick and hammer to dislodge those little bits of trivia. Hard to do this and type it in in 15 secs.
I didn’t get to take my old lady nap yesterday so in order to be wakeful for the test I had to drink a lot of coffee. Wide awake at midnight, I decided to finish the newest Dan Brown book.I had over 300 pages to go but I did it. I can hardly see today. The book is Lost Symbols and is a great thriller You remember he wrote The DaVinci Code. I loved that book too. Our library has a lot of good books right now. I hope I can keep my sight long enough to read them all. This week I read Dean Koontz’s new book Relentless. It is good but not as good as his others It is still a good read. Sue Grafton has a new book.U is for Undertow. You’ll remember she is the one who writes the alphabet books. I always enjoy her books. Haven’t read this one yet.
Still feeling po-ed about The Bachelor. That show is a disgrace to womanhood. Oh well, ratings will tell the story, as always. They never ask my opinion. HA!! I heard on Entertainment Tonight, or some show like that , more sexual content would be forthcoming on a lot of shows. Is this healthy? I just don’t know. I remember last year, I was watching Saving Grace and Holly Hunter was nude and on top of a hefty old guy. He was fully clothed but she is so tiny , it looked like child porn. Vomitous!!
We see so many horror stories on the news like the one Grump just showed to us I’m afraid our kids are going to feel gratutious sex a nd violence is the norm. I don’t like censorship so I guess we just have to be careful what they watch.
I have to stop now. Afraid of losing power. . Having hard rain and sleet. Later.
I’m back. earlier , when I was typing and made a typo and clicked on spell check, funny things would occur. Computer would freeze and msn would start telling me bad stuff about my computer. I wasn’t quite through with the TV subject.
While I really DON’T like censorship, I hope we can find a way to keep too much sex and violence off the major networks. Our young kids don’t need to see this. If they find it attractive or exciting it could become the new thing to try. Look how they all went wild over Miley Cyrus. About the Conan, Jay subject. I have tried to watch both shows at times but they are both too loud for me at that time of night.I really developed a dislike for Conan. On his old show, his humor seemed directed to elementary boys with subjects like body parts, bath room stuff and other disgusting topics. He really bugged me for a while because he wouldn’t shut up about my fav. Clay Aiken. I never cared if Clay was gay. I couldn’t see why it was such a big thing for Conan to harp on. Too me, Clay has the most beautiful voice in the world. He reminds me of someone who might have come to my house with my kids when they were young. Or maybe a favorite nephew, so sweet , one might want to pinch his cheeks. Conan was vicious with his atacks on Clay and it wasn’t called for and served no purpose. Anyway their problems were caused by the network and neither Conan nor Jay was really in control. I’m done.

Woot! Hope the jeapordy deal goes through
I couldn’t think fast enough if I had to do that. It always comes to me later LOL.
Sadly I’ve allready come across alot of kids who don’t react to sex and violence the way people even my age do and I thought we were open minded. They have a whole new level of it and see nothing wrong. It is really sad. I have lived through alot of trauma in my life but it still gets to me and here I see all these teens even that it doesn’t even phase them.
