just talkin’
After I wrote the blog about discrimination against blacks and remarked about how happy I am this situation is improving , a couple of things happened.
One of my husband’s friends came over and he and I got to discussing an item that was currently a headline.My husband had a cold so he went to lie down and we two kept at it. Longer than we should have, I guess. I guess he felt really defeated in our talk and had to lash out. He said, ” What do you think about your nigger president now? “
I didn’t even trust myself to respond. I changed the subject, let things cool off and he left. What is the point in even talking to some people? I will never waste another word on the man.
Then I saw a comment to a news story about the city employees getting a pay cut and this guy making the comment tried to blame this on Obama. Some just don’t get it. They only know to react with no thought to the facts. Why do we have such mindless blame and anger?
In another blog I wrote , I talked about some of the tv writers were saying they planned to “sex up” the plots. I said I hoped they wouldn’t over do it. Last night they went too far. On my fav show “Desperate Housewives” a new woman was brought to the neighborhood. Actually, this was her second appearance on the show. She was a former call girl. She stirred things up here and there and then moved in with Kathryn,( Dana Delaney) . They ended up going to a bar and kissing to put off some men and then continued this after they got home. My prob with this was , I don’t think Delaney wanted to do this. In the story she liked the kissing but at the end of the show the camera stayed on her face and she didn’t look happy at all but incredibly sad. If Delaney wanted to do this it is fine with me but I don’t think she wanted to do it. I think the bosses wanted her to do it just to boost their ratings. I would like to see her have the ability to refuse this if she wanted to do so. This would be a giant leap for most .
I have had an exacerbation of my COPD, let it go too long and had to go to the ER for oxygen. Wasn’t fun. I hate that damn place even if they did save my life.I learned a couple of things while I was sick. Don’t ever use your inhaler with a cough drop in your mouth. If you know you’ve got to go and have time, remove all hair from your arms. When you pull that tape off they have stuck all over it hurts like hell.
I learned another thing last week. Don’t cook bacon unless you are fully clothed. I didn’t do this myself. A friend warned me about it. lol

Some people never change. Especially the hardcore old southerners. My dad and my uncle are a couple of them. I did not want my kids around him when he started talking his racism or using the N word. I never wanted them to learn that. I raised them to not see anyone via race, religion, etc they are to look at who that person really is on the inside. Thankfully they don’t look at someone and see color or race. I’m glad of that. My dad has a thing against women too so he’s just all around annoying. I actually quit speaking to him. I remember my uncle had some nurses over (home health nurses) and they were harassing them and especially a black nurse in particular they were really cruel to this woman. I was hoping she’d refuse to see him anymore and not put up with it. I don’t know what happened there but it made me angry and sick to see it. No one needs to take that abuse. I think in alot of ways we have grown and each generation we grow a lil wiser and the bad parts of our past fades away some.
On another note I have learned that when you go in if you have a good vein that someone can always find make sure they know which one it is. LOL THey usually ask but they can almost never find anyone on my right arm. Some insist on trying anyways which just results in alot of pain and exasperation and they finally give up and get me on the other arm which usually works. I hate ER’s. LOL @ the bacon. Yep that stuff will get ya

Hi Aquarius! It’s been a long time.
I heard about some recent things in Shawnee and decided to check in on the blogs.
HAHA! Yes, cook back fully clothed, unless of course, you’re using hte microwave. Actually, why are you cooking bacon anyway? The pre-cooked stuff is so much easier and less messy!
Sorry about the friend. Some people just prefer to hate, and as long as that’s what they want to do, the only thing we can do is stay away.
